Dark ambient _industrial_noise_Death Industrial_Orchestral,_Power Electronics_Neoclassical_martial_dark folk

This is the long awaited reissue of one of the best Aube's work originally titled AQUA SYNDROME, published about 10 years ago by MANIFOLD records.
The new reissue included the original album with a bonus track and a bonus live CD.

LE SYNDROME AQUATIQUE is an impressive job of deconstruction and resetting of sonorous material to work of Aube, this particularly extended in the duration, treaty and expanded time, much to be proposed in a rich edition in double CD. Through sophisticated and very tested technical of sonorous rework assembled in years of untiring activity in a searching experience, Aube puts molding on and models fragments of concrete sounds of "aquatic" derivation transforming them in unknown drones, noises, pads, loops rhythms -mechanics, constructing a fantastic sonorous tapestry of valuable invoice and incredible impact, and unavoidably bringing back to the memory the first three CD constructed with single water sounds of the monumental one box of 12 CD " proudly published from Amplexus more than 10 years ago. One new unforgettable work for all those who love, and has loved, the avant-guard-istic sonorous experimentations of large the great Japanese master.

CD EnricoCONIGLIO: feat. Manuel P.Cecchinato/Massimo Liverani "SEA CATHEDRALS" (Silentes)

Five superb tracks of deep and evocative ambient music, enriched with echoes of ancient ritual suggestions. The immense spaces and the abyssal deepness of the sea, but also the sound of the bowels of the Earth, the colour of the sand of the desert, the energy of the wind, the strenght of all the Elements, the infinite cycle of day and night, of life and death… A long circular journey through interchanging atmospheres that shake and capture, dragging with energy, then leave room for more quiet and soothing introspective “stasis”, and again become dramatic and overwhelming, A great, unmissable album of “classic” ritual ambient music.

Second “chapter” in the “Hall of Mirrors” saga, a project that hides the fervid minds of Giuseppe Verticchio/Nimh and Andrea Marutti/Amon. On this release they’re supported by Andrea Freschi (Subinterior, Konau…) and Andrea Ferraris (Ur, Sil Muir…), who gave their contribute with additional sound sources. Another long and fascinating journey among the ruins of lost and ancient civilizations, among desolate landscapes forgotten by time… To enrich the already busy electronic stratifications, among slowly evolving ambient sonorities and occasional parts of more sharp and “rough” elements of a Post-Industrial nature, we also find suggestive sound of reverberating flutes and dilated electric guitar parts, ending with delicate melodic arpeggios and evocative rhythmic accents of a vague cinematic taste. The adventure goes on…

CD + DVD Lasik Surgery "Cyclo" (Silentes)

Tense electronic plots, calm ambiental stasis, inserts of sharp and harsh metallic sonorities, distorsions, filaments of subliminal melodies, masses of dark and penetrating low frequency drones. The journey of Lasik Surgery starts with a whirlwind of atmospheres and perpetually prismatic sonorities that have a big impact on the listener. This project was born from the minds of Pierpaolo Zoppo/Mauthausen Orchestra, the memorable noise-power electronic author who firmly came back to the fore in the recent years, and Gianluca Favaron, a skilled master controller and sound assembler with a long experience, already active under other aliases (Ab'she, Under the Snow, Metal Music Machine). The first exciting chapter of Lasik Surgery - a name that will surprise us again in the future for sure - comes with a free DVD that includes two videclips created by ENRICO BRESSAN.

Field recording/Industrial/Rough ambient noise

CD-R Eric Lunde "Ootheka" (Trait)

CD-R Eric Lunde "Suites For Solo Analog Recorders, Movements 3" (Trait)

2010. Re-release. Originally released in 2002 as a limited edition boxed set,  The Suites were the documentation of 4 different cassette recorders equipped with condenser mics recording themselves in a sound-proof box. This CDR is the two movements.

CD Eric Lunde "Candy-Hole" (Freak Animal)

Full length CD of Eric Lunde combines noise and concept art. From fierce tape recycling to field recordings, spoken word, digital edge meeting harsh analogue damage. Unique quality of Eric Lunde´s work still present after decades!"

Three long and “majestic” tracks where Maurizio Bianchi’s typical deep and reverberated sonorities, full of crepuscular melodies and subtle dissonances, get enriched by more electronic elements and fascinating elaborations, sophisticated manipulations and strong dynamic interventions operated by Crìa Cuervos… Three touching compositions built on progressive “crescendos” and a raging of slow sonic stratifications that lead to real “explosions” of sounds, drones, pulsations, frequencies, vibrations… A new, magnificent and very successful collaborative experience.

A long and almost “solemn” track built with reverberated piano notes, a slow and rhythmical flow leaned on a background made of clashing hisses and vague, distant, rustling ambient noises… A brief interval based on obscure drones moving in circles, inexorably entangled on themselves… Therefore another long piano-based track, this time more dilated, confused, ethereal and prim, so much that it takes the distinguishing features of an indecipherable sonic mass, abstract and booming, estranging, deep and psychedelic…A few and minimal elments, “directed” in a masterly fahion and assembled in an absolutely fundamental work, from the brightest mind of Italian experimental scene and of all the music “without compromises” of the last thirty years… One of the last contributes to the History of Music from an artists that, even in a phase of extraordinarily and unstoppable creative mood, has recently choose and officially announced to quit his long artistic activity. Simply essential.

Storms of cosmic energy, boiling and gurgling electronic fluxes, sonic masses made of monolithic and impenetrable drones, visions of smoky afterdeath landscapes, scorching and infernal… A neverending tunnel with no way out, a sense of deep anguish, of desolation and resigned impotence that lead the dark journey from the beginning to the end of this hallucinatory path. The sound quality and the sharpness of details are absolutely insuperable, they will offer you a “wrapping” and emotionally all-involving listening experience.

CD Mauthausen Orchestra "Digression" (Silentes)

After the recent reprint of “historical” material collected on the “SONIC DEPRIVATION” CD (SILENTES SME0930), and the collaboration with NIMH on “FROM UNHEALTHY PLACES” (SILENTES SME9032), Mauthausen Orchestra/Pierpaolo Zoppo comes back with brand new tracks and a new album where the “fury” and aggressiveness of his usual “harsh” sonorities of a Noise/Power-Electronics nature are merged with more “quiet”, wide and always dark ambient parts, sometimes surprising us with unexpected and undisclosed pulsating rhythmic-electronic inserts. A great album for a project that has recently born again with an unsuspected and inspired artistic vital energy.

The energy, the genius and the intransigence of the music of the hystoric “cult” power electronics project Mauthausen Orchestra/Pierpaolo Zoppo, united to the originalty, the eclecticism, the rigorous experimental research carried on since fifteen years by Giuseppe Verticchio, mostly with his “Nimh” solo project… Disturbing images of unhealthy places, nocturne landscapes covered with fog, psychotic nightmares, tormenting and delirious, described with sonorities of great impact and incredible dramatic force… A dark and long itinerary, to be covered wrapped in the spirals of a time that progressively seems to slow down and stop, folded on itself, just like suspended in the void, without offering any way out… A sonic adventure for brave souls… Elegantly packaged in a digipack.

CD PAS "Pure Energy Output Sessions" (Pas Records)

Emanating sound from traditional instruments and making nontraditional instruments sing, PAS (Post Abortion Stress) vibrate their internal frequencies from the heart of Brooklyn New York through textural sound experimentation. This is the 6th release from the eclectic quartet, improvising pure mental transporting sound design, which defies musical classification. In this release, fishing rods, tape measures, and vintage Casio SK synthesizers (just to name a few sound producing components) are explored to construct intense soundscapes. PAS are in this release Robert L. Pepper, Amber Brien, Michael Durek, and Jon Wort

CD-R PAS (Post Abortion Stress) "such things...complete Oneself" (Pas Records)

PAS (Post Abortion Stress) offers their sixth release up to the gods of sound. A compilation of friends from Europe and the Americas. PAS (Post Abortion Stress) with friends including The Strangewalls (New York) , Vultures (Anthony Donovan and Matt Chilton) (UK), Magnetica Ars Lab (Italy), Patrick Glassel (Wisconsin), Philippe Petit (France), Leonardo Casas (Chile), London Concrete (UK).

CD-R PAS (Post Abortion Stress) "Antarctic Tribe" (Pas Records)

PAS is an experimental audio/video collective maintained and created by Brooklyn based artist Robert L. Pepper. PAS has been active since 1999 collaborating and making experimentations through Europe and the United States.

The term (posT-abortioN-stresS...froM thE viewpoinT oF thE fetuS) is a metaphor. It defines all of those people have been aborted from society from one place or another. Some people have different views of how the world works apart from mainstream cultures and more people should realize there is more than one way to accomplish anything.

Using this term personally for PAS means how it applies it to music. Music can be any sound that can be heard by the human ear. It doesn't have to sound like "rock" or "pop". It doesn't have to have musical instruments and if it does you do not have to play them in a traditional way. Recently video has been added to give the experimentations an extra dynamic.

CD-R PAS "The Lyre speaketh" (Pas Records)

“The Lyre Speaketh,” is a new experimental album by PAS (Post Abortion Stress) that’s doused with sounds both familiar and bizarre. The track, “Otherworldly Magic in County Kirkahan” is driven by a fast paced sub-bass and hand percussion while metallic sheets are scratched as an ambient layering. “Chorus of Cats” is another song where you can feel its pulse, but the emphasis is on the soundscape of distorted elements reflecting in a cave or dungeon (as one may imagine). The appeal to this CD is not a hook or killer beat, but rather exposing yourself to unique sounds that create a new musical palette. There are moments of dissonance but before long, a shimmering light seeps through, revealing a charm behind the shadows. Expand your horizons by hearing “The Lyre Speaketh,” where there are endless possibilities to the depths of music.

CD Templebeat "The grey space" (Silentes)

Here at last, recovered from early 90s tape releases, we find eleven unmissable tracks signed by Templebeat, now collected and remastered on CD.
Eleven "gems" among which emerge timeless fascinating tracks like "Human", "Drugs" and "Refuse It". A due rescue for this band from Treviso that almost twenty years ago conceived electro-industrial music of a unique and unrepeatable nature, contaminated with incredible post-modern suggestions, pioneering the style in Italy. The CD contains eight tracks originally published on the "Interzone" tape, two tracks taken from the "Treviso Underground Vol. 3" compilation and a DAF's "Der Mussolini" cover released on the "V.I.T.R.I.O.L. #3" split-tape. Essential!

CD Atlatl "Draws the atlantic"(Mimeomeme)

The new 6 panel digipak from Atlatl!
Spikes of analog frequencies stutter and stumble through the fractured network, evoking surreal territories, whose inhabitants metamorphose and clash through failed attempts at evolution.
Culled from two studio sessions, the thirteen tracks presented here have been selected and edited by Alex Keller revealing the visceral soundscape within.
Atlatl(aka Phil Hendricks)uses analog modular electronics to explore evocative scapes where even faults and imperfections are allowed to interact and create evolving organic terrain.

CD-R Steve Barsotti "Along these lines" (Mimeomeme)

Subtle fluttering fragments that boarder on the inaudible float across the stereo spectrum and hover on the fringes of perception are interspersed with glitchy shards that dance on the edge of the speaker cone and threaten to pierce through into the room The newest collection of works by Seattle sound artist Steve Barsotti featuring works for invented instruments, electronics  and field recordings.  Limited edition of 200

“Terraces is built out of steppes, plateaus and crevices I would never have dared on my own. Mundane sounds become monumental events, subtleties are substantiated, echoes made epic, and shades of doubt edited out.  Composed out of an improvised set, Terraces articulates thresholds where land meets sky, sea meets shore, and where one's inner landscape converges with the outside world.”  - Perri Lynch

CD Steve Barsotti "Saytin-tah-pee-mick" (Mimeomeme)

Subtle manipulations of a variety of sound sources including squeaking chairs, impalpable locations and invented instruments. The first two tracks combine improvised elements with existing recordings of disparate locations and ordinary objects. Two live excerpts offer minimal approaches to some of the same material from the studio pieces and explore our auditory perceptive limits by requiring concentrated listening.

CD Celer "Close proximity and the unhindered care-all" (SRA)

The duo of Celer is comprised of husband and wife Will Long and Danielle Baquet- Long. Using processed strings, pianos, regional field recordings, and electronics, Celer has composed a masterpiece of sentimental experiences and realism; the sound of raw emotion..

Tender and touching, yet poignant and stirring, Close Proximity and the Unhindered Care-all is composed of 3 parts that encapsulate over an hour of music, and on-location field recordings. Part 1 creeps quietly through your room until its presence is felt, fading, and field recordings are bringing back distant memories. Part 2 starts on a melancholy note and ends in a sea of stunning ambience, drifting, and fizzling out. Part 3 embraces and carries you off to a distant, but strangely comforting world where it shares its secrets with you, and yet disappears at the peak of discovery.

It is an honor for SRA to be able to share with you this masterpiece of sound art by Dani and Will, and we hope it brings comfort to a world where things are often taken for granted and then forgotten. When listening to such a heart-rending album, itʼs hard not to feel somehow connected with the glowing love Dani and Will undoubtedly have shared, and Celer will always be remembered, and cherished in this way.

Packaged in a 8 panel classic digipack with a matte UV finish, the artwork consists of poetry by Dani, and layout, design, and cover photography by Johnny Utterback.

This compilation, originally released in 1984 as a vinyl LP by MULTIPLE CONFIGURATION in collaboration with the legendary ADN label, is finally available again in a completely remastered CD version. "Ekhnaton" collects tracks recorded by the most daring and remarkable bands that were active in the experimental Italian scene during those years. "Simple Italian Research Vol. 1" was (and still is) the subtitle of an album that includes two tracks from each of the following bands: Maze 1066, Tasaday (whose "Implosione tra le pieghe dell'anima" has recently been reissued by Silentes), Evitaxal - an alias for Roberto Marinelli, also active as Laxative Souls - and the more well-known and active TAC (TOMOGRAFIA ASSIALE COMPUTERIZZATA). Through a valuable and accurate restoration, we're glad to make available again an unmissable view on the first intuitions and the experimental methodologies that shaped their times, leaving a permanent mark - in Italy and abroad - on the following generations.

CD-R experi-MENTAL compilation Vol.1 "Culture Asylum Magazine)

(Fluid, Pas, Sk Orchestra, Philippe Petit, Big brother on Acid, Damien Olsen, etc.)

The final chapter for this project run by Gianluca Becuzzi well know for his old dark wave project LIMBO but also for his solo works and collaborations with Fabio Orsi. FINAL ARCHIVES is a sort of collection of rare tracks recorded from 1999 to 2006 totally reworked and remastered in 2009.

From booklet notes:

ABSOLUTE GREY is the title that Kinetix gave at his graphic artwork selection exhibited with an ambient post-scoring specifically composed for the expositive space. The exhibition is made of ten grey scale serigraphies on white forex scheets (1 meter x 1 meter) and a composition of 20 minutes played through two lour speakers and one woofer covered with grey powder on top of a white cube. Absolute Grey is been presented at the sound art festival PX2_Piombino_eXperimenta_2006.

RW MATERIALS is a collection of seven short tracks from the early Kinetix production. Noise gestaltmusic. A multidimensional concept created with sound layers and ambient concretism. These tracks help to the listener to understand the start point of the Kinetix sound research.

RESOUNDING SULPTURES is based on the concept of “composition for blocks of sound” made in 50’s and 60’s by Iannis Xenakis. For this reason traditional compositional criteria (harmonic-melodic / rhythmic-metric) will replace the various criteria of plastic / spatial forms. Part of the sound sources used for Resounding Sculptures were extracted from the works of Iannis Xenakis to whom this composition is dedicated.

CD Eric Leonardson and Steve Barsotti "Rarebit" (Mimeomeme)

Rarebit is the culmination of a four-year project by sound artists and instrument inventors Steve Barsotti and Eric Leonardson. Taking their cues from 20th Century sound artist-inventors Luigi Russolo and Harry Partch, the self-built instruments of Barsotti and Leonardson use coil springs, eyebolts, various pieces of wood, and other familiar materials These objects are amplified by contact microphones, which produce sounds of incredible depth and texture, and an amazing richness and variety that belie their humble origins. Given these novel sounds, Leonardson and Barsotti’s music retains human-level gestures as one expects from traditional acoustic music, yet with an emphasis on texture and timbre instead of melody or meter.
Seven of the nine pieces on the CD are improvised pieces and two were composed. They create streams of sound that move fluidly from scene to scene with a communicative style and a dramatic sense of presence and dynamic range: from effervescent burbling, animal-like whines and grunts, to gritty metallic drones that transform into forlorn hissing and ethereal soundscapes. Some passages are nearly silent, breathy, and tranquil.

2CD Lethe "catastrophe point #7 & #8" (Invisible Birds)

disc one - catastrophe point #7 - 50.50 sound materials recorded at arsenic: lausanne, switzerland 2004.10.21 - 11.28

disc two - catastrophe point #8 - 58.00 sound materials recorded at ex power station : edinburgh, scotland 2006.10.23 - 10.28 all compositions by lethe

invisible birds continues lethe's catastrophe point series with a 2cd set which includes 2 recordings in his series, one recorded in switzerland in 2004 and the other recorded in scotland in 2006.

lethe's series take place in abandoned industrial sites, using drones, chains, an occasional instrument, objects found in the space, but most importantly the resonant qualities of the space.

the wire magazine explained this series "the music sounds like it's taking place in a vast, pitch black aircraft hangar of the soul".yannick dauby said ""these are kiyoharu's obsessive abstractions dealing with physical substance and volume". the packaging for this release was done in collaboration with kiyoharu kuwayama and letterpress printer ben owen with the hope of achieving something that reflects the beauty and intensity of the work.

2CD + DVD Michael Mantra "Amanita Lake"

Two hours and half of music collected on a double cd set that also contain a dvd.

Two long tracks of sublime and evocative pseudo-abstract and multicoloured ambient textures, built with “discreet” and repetitive background microstructures layered with continuous and infinite variations worked out from “clusters” of sounds and “sketches” of melodic sequences made of light sonorities, “delicate” and “quiet” as well, but also hypnotic and warm… Fragile harmonies and mild dissonances in a timeless sonic continuum that enwraps and “rocks” the listener, among infinite spirals and floating waves in an everlasting movement… Another new, mind-boggling masterpiece, absolutely unmissable for all the lovers of Michael Mantra’s music.

Soft and dilated ambient atmospheres, minimal sonorities, floating electronic carpets... A new, “classic” and fascinating album in the typical and unmistakable Michael Mantra style... Four long and suggestive tracks, to be listened at low volume relaxing in the half-light, just like a discreet and refined sonic background, or at an higher volume for a “full immersion” into warm and wrapping electronic soundwaves, to the discovery of intriguing and evocative sonic landscapes...

A variegated and original universe of electronic visions; leading ryhthmic parts, cosmic suggestions, echoes of filtered human voices and hints of concrete noises extraordinarily mixed with catchy electronic progressions, among pulsating basses, sequencer patterns and winning melodic arpeggios… A surprising “mix” of ideas that “draws” from a wide range of stylistic influences, an extraordinary deep impact sound quality rich in dynamics, for an uninterrupted flux of incredible emotions…

Finally collected on a single CD, and released in a completely re-edited and re-mastered version enriched with new sounds and parts, Silentes present all the music created by Giuseppe Verticchio/Nimh during 2001/2002 using ethnic instruments only, in a total “unconventional” way, with the addiction of treated/processed field recordings. A real challenge beyond every stylistic and “geographical” border; an original and evocative dark-shaded ethnic-electronic-ritual music, born from the “voice” of ancient and often unknown traditional ethnic instruments mostly collected in the Far East, without using synthesizers and any other electronic/synthetic source at all. An absolutely original “Travel Diary, unpredictable and unrepeatable…

CD NULL / DEISON : INTO (Silentes)

Penetrating “Hi-tech” music, always on the border between sound, silence and noise… Splinters of sonic fragments, buzzings, electronic hisses, pulsations, hypnotic loops, ambient textures, sudden rays of light… A kaleidoscope of syntethic sounds and digital glitches, in a universe dominated by binary codes, that evolves through the cold-hearted control of sophisticated algorhythmic mutations programmed by human entities that already reached a level beyond the borders of our earthly knowledge…

CD Yui Onodera & Celer "Generic City" (Two acorns)

CD Seattle Phonographers Union (Mimeomeme)

The Seattle Phonographers Union celebrates the release of their eponymous CD, "Seattle Phonographers Union", a co-operative effort between Seattle-based imprints and/OAR and Mimeomeme.
This CD collects unedited sections culled from favorite performances spanning from 2004 to 2008. Performers include Steve Barsotti, Peter Comley, Katie Gately, Mark Griswold, Doug Haire, Susie Kozawa, Dale Lloyd, Perri Lynch, Rob Millis, Toby Paddock, Heather Perkins, Steve Peters, and Jonathan Way.

A sensational CD release of an awesome tape (originally published by MULTIPLE CONFIGURATION) that includes live tracks recorded between 1983/1984 and comes in a completely remastered edition. Tasaday are a "cult" band active since the early Eighties. Born from the merging of Die Form and Nulla Iperreale, they are probably the most eclectic and groundbreaking representative of an Italian experimental scene that used to blend elements of rock, noise, experimental and industrial music with great courage and originality. An audio document of exceptional value, this longly waited reprint of live material is also the most direct and remarkable evidence of the work of this unforgettable - and still alive and kicking- band.

CD Bay/Oslo Mirror Trio "Bay/Oslo Mirror Trio" (Conrad Sound)

This transatlantic orchestra was formed in January 2008 by musicians based in Oslo and San Francisco. They focus on collective improvisation and exploring the mirrored lineups of guitar, double bass and drums. The members also make up the three duos SkasM, Basshaters and Dallas Wallpaper.

CD environs "un pettirosso in gabbia mette in furore il cielo intero" (Stella Nera)

n franti's family tree, environs was the experimental spinoff. they travelled with no itinerary between songs and improvisation following sort of a hardcore/folk thread, strongly influenced by the sound of the seventies and eighties. this cd features everything that could be saved from their original analog recordings on tape, now lost forever. cover silkscreen from a drawing by carlo giaccone, packaging in recycled paper.

CD Eugene Chadbourne "the competition of misery" (Stella Nera)

call him a guitarrorist. eugene is a true electric guitar virtuoso, a reckless sound researcher and an indefatigable experimenter. his songs were labelled as “the alternative music arsenal” by an enthusiast journalist. over thirty years travelling around the whole world with just a guitar and a smile, thousands of gigs, hundreds of record releases and uncountable tapes and homemade cd's. the "competition of misery" features songs taken from eugene's huge personal archives: songs of protest, revolution and peace. cover artwork by thomas kerr (ragged edge press). packaging and booklet in recycled paper.

CD detriti "detriti"(Stella Nera)

detriti's fiendish debut album was originally released in 1993 and was reviewed then as "beautiful as the moon, terrible as an army with banners" quoting henry cow. probably it's the most brilliant and desperate free music release of its decade: the musicians were terrific and confused, they played evil chaotic noise with deranged lyrics as if they were shooting bullets straight to the heart of beautiful music. nightmarish and necessary music that bites still today. cover photograph by vito vecellio, packaging in recycled paper.

CD franti "estamos en todas partes"(Stella Nera)

a collection of mostly unreleased pieces, live and studio recordings and radio broadcast between 1981 and 1986. also featuring "bootleg 1985" a video track produced by max viale from archive footage. cover artwork by paper resistance, packaging in recycled paper. "...a hugely intriguing mixture of recordings, chiefly in their own language that possess elements of hardcore, early punk and blues rock, with their dual male/female vocals reminiscent of the more melodic moments from crass..." [punk/oi/uk]

CD stefano giaccone e claudio villiot "corpi sparsi" (Stella Nera)

the recordings of the theatre piéce written by stefano giaccone (former franti member) and pianist claudio villiot. spoken word and improvised music for piano and tenor sax. originally released by on/off in 1997 in a limited edition.

CD joel orchestra "yggia vilyggia" (Stella Nera)

world travelling open group based in turin, franti's old mates. this is their very first cd after over twenty years. songs with no lyrics, tiny fragments of sound and noise recorded in the streets during a long travel, recycled in live improvisation performances. it could be india, the andes, or just the sound from the backyard. a simple and harmonic witness of love. packaging in rag/paper.

CD judas 2 "s/t" (Stella Nera)

new 2010 packaging. pete wright was a member of crass, and martin wilson played drums with flux of pink indians, two of the best known british anarchopacifist bands. according to the duo's past, you should expect harsh sounds and aggressive lyrics: judas 2 is surprisingly acoustic guitar and percussion, and offers agile songs with inspired and brilliant lyrics that often turn into a corrosive and sarcastic reproach.

CD luciano margorani "solo concert" (Stella Nera)

luciano margorani is one of the best kept secrets of italian underground music. active since the early eighties with la1919, he usually keeps himself away from the scene and rarely makes his recordings available: an amazing guitarist who shared music and happiness with the likes of derek bailey, franco fabbri, eugene chadbourne and elliot sharp, and will make you forget eric clapton and the-guy-who-played-guitar-with-dire-straits...

CD alessandro monti "unfolk" (Stella Nera)

a bizarre crossing of an irish mandolin and liquid metal guitars, violin and ethnic/electronic percussion: could be fragments from old manuscripts arranged by a contemporary laptop extremist, or old recordings heavily manipulated by a progressive music fan. alessandro monti is a non-musician from venice, his compositions balancing between minimal electronics and folk emotional soundscapes. music contributions from bebo baldan, marco giaccaria, david mora, gigi masin, alex masi etc. keep this cd in your shelf just close to steve tibbetts' releases. cover artwork by alberto martini (1920).

LP 20th Century Homes (Old Gold)

LP with Inserts Sound artist-instrument builder Michael Dumontier of Winnipeg, Manitoba liked our first tape, Old Songs By Howard Finster, and sent tapes of various permutations of the Royal Art Lodge group in the 90s, then sequenced this album in 97. These recordings, which are very weird and include one track by children, occasionally recall Tall Dwarfs or Sentridoh- but that's just the tip of the iridescent iceberg. Great vibe throughout from Eyeball Hurt & The Medicine, Untanned Hide of a Young Cow, Drue & Myles Langlois, Alien Hybrid, NDF, Rudy Bust, Albatross, Pot Roast, Tom Elliott, Go action with da-da sound, Adrian Shalom Williams, The Garage People and Todd Martin. It's funny, it's poignant, it's brilliant from start to finish. If you like compilations that come at you from all sides, and find a place of honor in your collection - this is the LP for you.
